• Atherosclerosis, including coronary artery disease, and a major complication associated with diabetes, affects nearly 14 million people in the United States, and is the leading cause of death in the United States;
• Solid organ transplant rejection, which affects more than 200,000 people in the United States and is a major factor contributing to organ shortage.
